WELCOME TO SUMMER 2023!
This August we're taking a break from our usual Sunday gatherings as we make room for plenty of family hangs and memory making moments.
Each Sunday, we’ll be getting together for a different summer social that we’d love to invite you, your friends and your family along to. From beach hangs to road trips, walks to picnics, it’s going to be excellent! Check out all the dates below for more info.
The rest of our church calendar will also be pausing to give us all plenty of time to rest and connect with God and with each other over the summer.

SUNDAY 6TH AUGUST
HOLY ISLAND ROAD TRIP
On this Sunday we’ll be hitting the road for a day trip to Holy Island.
We plan to meet at 11am at the Chare Ends Car Park (just as you come onto the island) and the postcode is TD15 2SE.
We’ll take some time to explore together as a group, then we’ll have the opportunity to split up and check out different things that might interest us…
…A longer walk…the priory and history side of things…the coffee shop…the beach!
There are cafes on the Island, but feel free to bring along a picnic if you’d prefer.
Drivers and passengers can then arrange a time to regroup and make the journey home. The last safe crossing is at 5pm so it will be before then, if not earlier depending on how much time you’d like to spend on the Island.
SUNDAY 13TH AUGUST
PICNIC IN THE PARK
Barnes Park Rd, Sunderland SR4 7PY
Join us in Barnes Park from 11am for some quality family time at our picnic.
We’ll have some games, some picnic blankets and plenty of chance to relax and catch up as a family.
Bring a picnic to share and meet us close to the picnic benches near the football field.
We can’t wait to see you there!
(If the weather is bad on this day, we’ll relocate to hosting our picnic at our usual Sunday venue at thePlace – bring your picnic there instead!)
SUNDAY 20TH AUGUST
BEACH HANG OUT
Marine Walk, Roker, Sunderland SR6 0PL
We LOVE a beach trip!
Come and join us at 11am on Roker Beach for a brilliant, memory-making time together.
You’ll be able to bring along a picnic or grab some chips there.
Meet us on the beach just in front of Fausto Coffee.
(If the weather is bad on this day, we’ll relocate to hosting our hangout at our usual Sunday venue at thePlace – bring along a picnic there instead!)
SUNDAY 27TH AUGUST
FAMILY WALK
Join us for a lovely family walk around Souter Lighthouse.
We’ve planned a short walk just over 2 km and the chance to walk along the coastline too.
We will meet at Souter Lower Car Park at 11am.
Then there is just a short walk to Souter Lighthouse, taking in the the coastline and plenty of opportunities to go a little further if you’re looking for a longer amble.
If you’re coming by car, just put: ‘Souter Lower Car Park’ into your sat nav. We’ll see you there.
If you’re coming by public transport:
1. Go to Fawcett Street in the city centre.
2. Take an E1 or E2 bus which has the South Shields destination on it.
3. Get off at Mill Lane Primary school (19 minutes or so).
4. Walk up the road until you reach one called Shearwater (it’s on the right).
5. Walk down there and before you reach the corner turn left onto a footpath. This connects this road to Mill Lane.
6. Turn right when you reach Mill Lane. The car park is at the end of that road.
7. See you there!!
